Trying something new

I've been itching to do some more realistic work for a long time but whenever I tried it just didn't click for me, until last week when I decided to do some new little paintings of birds. Here is my first one called 'House Sparrow', I think you would call this style more impressionistic, which I am really pleased with.

There are little spots of shimmering glitter on the birdie and the tree branch, so I still got to add my little mixed media accents to it.

Winter Wonderings

As winter draws nearer, I find myself painting lot’s of winter scenes, which is so much fun and a new learning experience as I play with the paint and see where it takes me.

It’s definitely getting colder outside and slowly the beautiful golden leaves of Autumn are falling away leaving the stark bare tree branches in the landscape. Each season has beauty in it if you take the time to look :)

Winter Wonderings is one of them that you saw in my GUT Art video below and is now available at my Etsy store.

Sharing…

‘The Reeds’

Acrylics and charcoal pencil on paper.

I’ve been playing a lot for the class I am taking with Mystele and it sure is an emotional rollercoaster. I’m learning so much about what I love and what I don’t. Letting myself just ‘play’ and seeing where it takes me. Here is a painting I did in my sketchbook at the weekend, I love how it turned out!

It’s such an exciting journey I can’t wait to see where it takes me next and I am so glad to be sharing this journey with you. As artists we are always learning, always evolving and always expressing in new ways and that is the beauty of art!

See you soon with another glimpse of my journey.
