2013 Calendars and Craft Show Round Up

Last week was crazy busy finishing my preparation for the Kesgrave Community Centre craft show, which took place on Saturday. Overall it was a good day, met some lovely people but most of us didn’t see many sales.

Still, that means there is plenty of goodies left in stock for my Etsy shop and my next shows.

On Friday I managed to list my new 2013 calendars in the shop. I have a few left in stock ready to ship and am going to make more this week. These are a great way to enjoy my work all year round and at the end of the year you can frame your favourites as they are only printed on one side each

Check them out here.

New site design

I’ve been tinkering away at the blog and web shop to give it a fresh new look, what do you think? *EDIT – I have decided to  move my Big Cartel shop back to a gallery format on my website to focus my work back on originals.

I’m really pleased with how it came out and brings all my artwork together. As well as the design changes, I’ve also adjusted my pricing and am now offering print sets which are a great way to own more art without it costing a lot and of course you will received combined shipping.

You can check out the new designs here: http://www.thevintageartist.com/blog/blog/blog/blog/blog/paintings.htm

*Prints etc will continue to be offered on Etsy.

Happy Shopping!

Spring time prints and updates

It feels like a while since I’ve blogged properly, so much going on with different projects. I thought I’d just update you on what’s happening online right now with my shops and art.

I’ve been a busy bee getting my new web shop up and running and it’s finally ready to reveal: www.thevintageartist.bigcartel.com I still have things to add and I’m trying to get my sub domain linked to it but so far it’s not resolved. But you can reach it from the above url anytime.

I’ve also added a couple of new art prints to Etsy and some photography and cards.

And if you are looking for my fabric it’s now available directly from Spoonflower in any amount you wish. I’m really excited to see what you make with it. I actually attempted to make something for my studio, don’t laugh….

I’m not a great sewer so it’s a bit crooked lol but it’s still cute. And very comfy I might add. Send me pics when you make something with my fabric line, so I can see!

Well, that’s all folks for this week

Stickers!

When I was a kid I loved stickers, I’d stick them all over the place and not much has changed since I’ve got older

So, I’ve been plotting to bring you stickers of my art for a while but wanted them to be extra special and that time has finally come!

These sticker sets are made just like my prints but with adhesive backing. They aren’t waterproof so don’t go sticking them to things you know might get wet like envelopes!

They are matte and really great quality images, I’ve stuck a load of them all over one of my Moleskine sketch books lol.

I have two sets available “Cuties” which has 10 stickers of my landscapes and characters and “Cupcakes” which has 8 cupcake images.

Stickers also have FREE Shipping to all countries, now you can’t get more special than that

A Tour of My Open Studio…

So there are some inquisitive little bunnies out there who would like to see what might go on at one of my open studios, especially ones that live just too far away to hop over the pond for a visit, so here you go, come in and enjoy…

I’ll be hosting another open studio probably in October so I do hope those of you who don’t live far will be able to come and enjoy some cute art and cake with me

Blessings, and a huge thank you to those who did come!!

‘Sun Rise’

‘Sun Rise’
5 x 5” Mixed Media
Vintage Bingo Card
£45.00

As I sat down to paint on Friday with no painting planned ahead, I started off with the sky and it flowed from there. The Summer sunshine and the beauty of the flowers has been inspiring me so much. Such joy to be out in the sunshine, especially when walking Ellie.

New Painting Series–Vintage Kitchen

‘Salt & Pepper’

4 x 4” acrylics on chunky wood canvas

£40.00

I am so excited, you may have already heard on Facebook? I’ve been playing around with a new series of paintings, the first of which I showed a sneak peek on Friday of these cute little Salt & Pepper pots.

My friend Sherry loves to collect Pyrex and I love it too, only I haven’t had much luck finding any round here at the Thrift shops, hopefully one day I’ll find some. The beautiful colours and prints on the Pyrex inspired me to create ‘Salt & Pepper’, which I enjoyed painting so much it’s inspired a whole series of paintings on the vintage kitchen theme!

I’m really looking forward to painting more Pyrex, old fashioned kitchen items and of course baking! I love baking and will share with you some of my favourite recipes and pics of yummy things I’ve made.

You can find all my original paintings and prints available to buy at my website: www.thevintageartist.com/galleryindex.htm or purchase directly here directly through Pay Pal:

Spreading My Wings

I’ve been feeling really restless for a long time now, itching to spread my wings and work in other mediums but the thought of not doing my cute whimsical paintings, well it made me sad. How could I do both?

I’ve struggled with putting all the different mediums together in my Etsy shop and feeling like it just looked too confusing, and while some of you may say no, I felt it just wasn’t working.

The pull to create in other ways has been a recurring theme for me for years and I didn’t know what to do about it. Recent events have helped me to decide that I need to honour the different parts of what makes me ‘me’ and be creative in many ways.

I’m currently taking Paulette Insall’s Divine Romance class which is helping me to paint in a way that is less thinking more doing, connecting with God and allowing Him to flow through me. It’s exciting to see what will come out and I look forward to sharing more with you about this later on.

In the meantime, some of you may have seen my recent ‘Ellie’ sketch which has got me really excited! I totally loved the experience of creating in this way, again it was more doing rather than thinking and simple yet so striking. I decided that sketching is something I want to do a lot more of and am now offering custom pet sketches along with my photography and abstract paintings on my new website.

This seemed the perfect way to have the best of both worlds, I’ll be listing all my cute whimsical paintings and prints on my Etsy store and all other art and photography at Big Cartel. I’ve added new links on the menus here to help you find what you need.

Excited to be on this new journey,

Sing Sing Sing

It was my Birthday on Sunday and Hubby had kindly offered to order me new art supplies as one of my gifts from him. So I ordered some wood panels I’d had my eye on for ages and some new paint.

Well they came yesterday and they are so adorable and such a lovely surface to work on. I couldn’t wait to paint on them.

Over these Bank Holiday’s the weather has mostly been beautiful and warm so we’ve been sitting out in the garden a lot. There are lot’s of different birds flying about all the time singing away, I just love the sound!

They were the inspiration for this latest painting,

‘Sing Sing Sing’ now available on ebay.
