Goosey and the Snow

Goosey doesn't seem to mind the snow, or the fact that it's been snowing for what seems like forever!

This is an original pencil drawing on cartridge paper, ACEO sized (3.5 x 2.5")

Autumn Leaves

September - autumnleavessketch1

It’s been really wet and windy here in Suffolk lately. And sadly I’ve seen no sign of birdies at all? Sad smile I wonder where they all went? Somewhere warmer perhaps?

We put up a new feeder full of wild bird seed just before we went on holiday a couple of weeks ago now but haven’t seen any birds on it since we’ve been home.

I do hope they come back, I love listening to their songs and seeing the little beauties.

‘Autumn Leaves’ is one of my favourite drawings I’ve done and is now available as a print in the shop.

Stay warm!

Draw Your Heart Out…

…is what I am attempting to do.

I love to draw and feel like really I am still finding my way with my art, hmm maybe it’s a life long journey? But anyway, I feel like I’m constantly evolving and wanting to stretch myself artistically. To be challenged, to not create art because it ‘might sell’ but to create from my heart, things that truly inspire me and things that truly matter to me.

My passion for gardening is increasing and you know I adore my Ellie dog and so I continue to draw what I love the most, I hope you enjoy it too.

Amazing what new photos can do

eggcupscloseup

You may have noticed quite a few changes happening in the shop lately?

I have been busy re-taking my photos and learning to make them a lot better. I still think they need improving more but hey it’s progress!

I’m so into drawing and using ink and watercolours right now and am excited to share with you my latest ink cards available.

I’ve got some in the shop and if you want to see all of them they are in my Facebook album. It’s taking me a while to get them all photographed. Oh yes, these are the ones I showed in my last video.

layingbunnycardcloseup

I also wanted to share with you this photo I took of my original drawing ‘Quackers over you’ because I was thinking, it might be hard to imagine what you might do with one of my ACEO cards if you are not used to the whole ‘scene’, so here is an example for you, which I think shows off the beauty of small art.

geeseaceo

Pretty huh?! Whilst I’m not selling them framed, this gives you a great idea of what my ACEO’s can look like framed in your own home.

I’ve been wanting to get more new art in my shop but I’m working on a big project atm for Church so I’m a little behind, but I’m making notes/sketches until I can sit down and work on them properly. I promise you’ll be the first to know when they are available, until then..

Retro Series

anicecuppabloganicecuppaetsy

‘A nice cuppa!’

I love green tea, it’s my most fav hot drink and I drink a lot of it. I also love retro/vintage kitchens and so continuing on my series I present my latest drawing ‘A nice cuppa’.

This was really fun to do and looks so much better in ‘real life’ than I could capture with the camera. It’ll look fab in your kitchen. You can find it available in my Etsy shop.

I’ve also been busy updating my gallery website, I’ve added all this years new work and late last years. I still need to do more updating but you can see what’s available now.

I am currently open for commissions so if you’d like a drawing or painting or even an ACEO card please check out my commissions page for details and or email me.

Finding My Way Again + New Art!

Since I last posted things have been improving a lot! I realised I just need to embrace all aspects of myself which includes different mediums of art. Somehow accepting that has really turned things around and I feel like I’m back in the game so to speak.

So yesterday I decided it was time to put my art on the walls, I had been enjoying the blank walls but knew I needed to decide what I wanted to put up. I wanted it simple, uncluttered and showing my range of art.

So this is how it looks and I am delighted! I’m displaying my ACEO’s on my memo board and they look fab! And a new thing.. I framed some of my drawings for display and they look really stunning. It’s great to be able to share these pics with you so you can see how my work looks up on the wall Smile

artwallnewblog

frameddrawingsblog

This is the wall near my computer, I put two of my 10 x 8” drawings up here and they look wonderful.

thevillageframedwall

This is ‘The Village’ framed. I won’t be selling it framed but it gives you a great idea of how it looks. I’ve realised my drawings look far better un-mounted and just framed, keeping it simple shows them off a lot better.

Besides doing that I have been working on new originals and I have a few other secret projects in the works which I am totally excited about. More on those later but for now please meet….

Mr Mouse-

mouselarge1blog

Inspired by my ACEO cards featuring my newest character I decided to do a A5 (8 1/4 x 5 7/8)” version. The paper is gorgeous, slightly off white and the pencil marks really pop out, this drawing will look great framed.

My other new original is ‘Signs of Spring’ inspired by the bulbs popping up in the garden and my fav time of year…

signsofspringblog

You can find both now in my Etsy shop and see more pics of the full sized versions.

Off to create more… and thank you all for your support x

Walking in your own shoes

homesweethomewatercolour

This is kind of a different post for me, I don’t tend to share too much about what goes on in my head because…well I am pretty shy and don’t like to talk about myself pretty much at all.

I find the whole self-promotion as an artist thing really hard and often question myself about what I am doing and wonder if people are really listening/reading/clicking etc.

I like to share what I create on this blog and our adventures with Ellie, but to be honest I struggle with blogging. Sometimes I have plenty to say and sometimes I don’t. I’m like that in real life too. Some days when we walk Ellie I can’t stop talking and telling Hubby all my ideas and thoughts and other days I just like to enjoy the peace and the scenery (when it’s not dark) as we walk.

When people start to get to know me they may think me hard to work out, I am pretty quiet until I get to know you more and then I will gradually share more and open up a bit. I also love to laugh and be a little silly Smile

Anyway, today I wanted to talk about walking in my own shoes because I feel like I am not, to be blunt.

Not that I am pretending or faking anything but I have a huge desire to draw and dare I say not paint. Embarrassed smile

There i said it, it’s out in the open and I am wanting to hide…

When I started playing with the ink and watercolours late last year I was over the moon, I felt like I was walking my path and my shoes fit perfect and I was excited about where this was going to take me. I had also started doing graphite drawings which thrilled me I can’t tell you how much.

I have reawakened the passion inside me that was there all along but I pretended it wasn’t and stuffed it down, hid it away because I believed nobody wanted my drawings.

Somewhere between loving drawing as a child and just doing it despite what people thought and then getting a complex because I was never ‘good enough’ I hid and then I became someone I did not know. I gained a ton of weight, I was totally miserable.

When I became a Christian after my Grandparents died, I started to hope I could be an artist. I had been doing well with crafts but I knew it wasn’t really me. So then my painting took off to a certain extent and for a while I was happy. My skills got better and I loved blessing others with my work. (Still do!!)

During this time I lost a lot of weight and started to figure out who I really am. So now I’m almost to goal weight, a lot of areas in my life are great but the niggling ache in my heart never went away and now it’s bursting to come out and I am scared. What is this going to look like? will people like it? what am I going to do?…. so many questions, no answers, and yet the feeling remains.

So here I am opening up to you to let you know why there isn’t much new art happening, why I don’t blog much and what’s going on in my head right now.

Behind the scenes I am drawing, I am playing and I’m nervous! I feel like a kid again in some respects, I am rediscovering me.

The above watercolour and ink drawings is one of my fav. I am so disappointed I couldn’t get it to look anywhere near as good as it really does, the colours are off. I framed it and put it on my window sill in my studio. Whenever I look at it I smile and wonder…

So I guess this is a major transition period for me and I have no idea where it’s going, but I do really hope you’ll stick around.

Blessings

Studio Make Over Continued…

studioduring

It’s not a pretty site atm Smile The ceiling has been stripped of wallpaper (yuck!) and the walls have been white washed now, gonna need another coat!

studioduring2

Next week, we will be painting the walls it’s new colour! Some enquiring minds would like to know what colour it will be but my lips are sealed lol  Don't tell anyone smile You’ll just have to wait for the big reveal Winking smile And I’ll give you a clue…

it’s not going to be pink Surprised smile!

Yes this is new territory folks, no more pink walls. It was a tough decision but I am very excited for this new era!

While all this DIY is going on I have relocated to our dining room table which is ok. Can’t wait to be back in my studio though.

I’m tinkering away at more new ideas for the shop and challenging myself with some more realistic drawing…

eyesketchblog

It was so much fun to lose myself in this Saturday afternoon whilst watching The Masters Snooker semi final.

Ok that’s all folk, I’ll be back soon with more new goodies.

Thinking of Spring

pinkblossomtree

Yes I did just really say that lol! I love Spring it’s my favourite time of year. I look forward to all the new growth especially as I love to grow my own plants from seed. The coming year will bring experiments in growing vegetables for the first time which will be exciting.

I also love the colours in Spring, the blue skies and the sound of the birds. So these drawings are inspired by those things…

pinkblossomtreedrawingcloseup

The first is a new card in my kraft card original illustrations range and the second is a new 10 x 8” drawing. It’s my favourite yet!

Hope you are doing well and not too stressed from the preparations for Christmas. This week has been an emotional one so I took some time off to relax a bit. We’ve come out the other side though and I hope you will enjoy these new offerings now in the shop.

It’s not too late to order in time for Christmas if you live in the UK. I’m still taking orders through Christmas and the New Year and open for commissions at this time too.

Merry Christmas
