My veggie patch

Over the weekend we had beautiful sunshine and warmth. I spent the whole weekend in the garden and it was bliss.

My veggies were ready to plant and so I enjoyed hours of planting, watering and beaming at my new patch.

I have planted runner beans, onions, spinach and red and green lettuce here and in our other flower beds I planted Cosmos, Marigolds and moved some Evening Primroses.

The salad is droopy here but now we’ve had more rain it’s perked right up. I wonder when it’ll be ready to eat. I need to read more in the gardening books lol.

Yay for Spring!

Well it’s officially Spring hooray! The last couple of days have been gorgeous weather. Warm enough to sit out and enjoy. I love this time of year, it’s so inspiring for me with all the colour, the blue skies and planting of new flowers.

This year we are planting fruit and veggies, I will take some pics to show you later on. We now have raspberries planted and will have runner beans and salad leaves going in next month along with wildflowers and sweet peas. Very exciting! Monday I sowed lot’s of marigold and cosmos seeds that I had collected from last years plants so I can’t wait to see them come up.

And in other news I will be at St Johns Church Hall, Cauldwell Hall road, Ipswich (UK) tomorrow night 22nd March from 7-9pm for a Ladies Pamper and Craft evening. There will be various stalls along with mine and the opportunity for some pampering. The evening is being hosted to raise money for Samaritan’s Purse, admission is £4 inc. glass of wine and nibbles, tickets are available from Kathy Dines: 07980705309

Our New Veggie Patch + Crazy Weather!

I was watching Gardener’s World on Saturday morning and decided it was finally time to make that raised bed to grow some veggies in. Monty said that you can fill it with Hungarian Rye seed to act as a green manure protecting the space until Spring. So I sent Hubby to work right away to build me one. We’d talked about doing this for a while but weren’t ready to decide where to put it and what to grow in there.

Hubby was so pleased to be given a new project to do, he loves working with scraps of wood to create things.

Finished!! I am so pleased with it. We just need to get some compost to put in and then sow our seeds

Just as we finished and were ready for lunch look what happened…

Hail!! In August!!! And not just little tiny hail, big huge hail!! Glad we had finished and could shelter inside.

It didn’t last long thankfully and the sun came back out. My prayers are with those affected by the hurricane.
