Amazing what new photos can do

eggcupscloseup

You may have noticed quite a few changes happening in the shop lately?

I have been busy re-taking my photos and learning to make them a lot better. I still think they need improving more but hey it’s progress!

I’m so into drawing and using ink and watercolours right now and am excited to share with you my latest ink cards available.

I’ve got some in the shop and if you want to see all of them they are in my Facebook album. It’s taking me a while to get them all photographed. Oh yes, these are the ones I showed in my last video.

I also wanted to share with you this photo I took of my original drawing ‘Quackers over you’ because I was thinking, it might be hard to imagine what you might do with one of my ACEO cards if you are not used to the whole ‘scene’, so here is an example for you, which I think shows off the beauty of small art.

geeseaceo

Pretty huh?! Whilst I’m not selling them framed, this gives you a great idea of what my ACEO’s can look like framed in your own home.

I’ve been wanting to get more new art in my shop but I’m working on a big project atm for Church so I’m a little behind, but I’m making notes/sketches until I can sit down and work on them properly. I promise you’ll be the first to know when they are available, until then..

Blessings

Retro Series

anicecuppabloganicecuppaetsy

‘A nice cuppa!’

I love green tea, it’s my most fav hot drink and I drink a lot of it. I also love retro/vintage kitchens and so continuing on my series I present my latest drawing ‘A nice cuppa’.

This was really fun to do and looks so much better in ‘real life’ than I could capture with the camera. It’ll look fab in your kitchen. You can find it available in my Etsy shop.

I’ve also been busy updating my gallery website, I’ve added all this years new work and late last years. I still need to do more updating but you can see what’s available now.

I am currently open for commissions so if you’d like a drawing or painting or even an ACEO card please check out my commissions page for details and or email me.

Homeward Bound

home1blog

There is nothing like the feeling of coming home. Even when you’ve been on holiday getting into your own bed is so lovely!

I kind of feel like that right now as I delve deeper into drawing, I feel like I’ve come home and am where I am meant to be. The more I draw the happier I am.

I hope you will enjoy this new illustration ‘Homeward Bound’, created on buff cartridge paper using dark brown ink and matted.

Find it here in my shop.

Ripple Blanket

bedroomblanket1

Remember I started a ripple blanket for our bedroom? I started it about three times I think lol but I finally got the colours right for what I wanted and here it is!

I’m pretty slow at crochet and knitting projects because I like to dip in and out rather than work on it everyday. So I think this project is going to take a very long time. Still I love it and because it’s striping it’s really enjoyable challenging myself to get to the next colour.

I’m just finishing up the raspberry row and then will go onto the last colour, the baby pink. So pretty! Then it’s back to the baby blue. It’s going to be gorgeous when complete.

We are almost done decorating the bedroom now, just some finishing touches to do then I’ll take more pics to show you.

What are you crocheting or knitting right now?

Butterflies and Blue Skies

butterflies2

I was sitting sketching in the garden yesterday, look what I saw!! Not one but two Red Admiral butterflies enjoying sitting on my new top on the washing line. I worried at first they might be eating it lol but on closer inspection they were just enjoying sitting there together…how sweet!

butterflies

How beautiful they are! They stayed there for ages, at least 30mins, I also had lot’s of Cabbage Whites fluttering around the garden and then would you believe it another Red Admiral came and sat on my other washing but as soon as I went to take a pic it flew off. Seemed quite a hyper butterfly to me by the way it was flying around lol.

In other news, my Etsy followers will be pleased to know I’ve decided to re-open my shop. It’ll be running alongside my website and other sites.

I’ve just listed my latest painting ‘Sun Rise’ over there, hope you enjoy.

Putting the Vintage Touch on Our Bedroom…

bedroom2during2011

For the last month, we’ve been decorating our bedroom. It’s the first time we’ve been able to since moving in, back in Aug 2007. It’s so exciting to be able to put our touch on our own home, we rented before and I’ve never felt free to express my decor tastes until now.

It’s slow progress it feels as there is so much prep to be done but we are finally getting closer to painting stage. I’ve already got the first coat of satin wood on the woodwork and Hubby has been busy with loads of sanding, paint stripping, and hole filling. We’ve gone for a very vintage/country looking theme, calico white, soft green and some gorgeous rose wallpaper for the feature wall.

You can see the before and progress pics on my Facebook albums.

Back last year before we had officially decided on a colour scheme I started a ripple blanket for our bed. I didn’t get too far with it and it looked like this…

rippleblanket

Pretty but not quite right for what I am wanting, so a few attempts later and a few balls of the wrong shade we are now well on the way with the right colours hooray!!!

bedroomblanketblog

That’s the wallpaper we’ve gone for in the background, I just need to buy the light pink to complete the colour striping and then it’s repeat, repeat, repeat, until it’s done. It’s going to look so gorgeous.

I’ll keep you posted with our progress, I can’t wait to have the room finished and we can enjoy it then. No more staring at ugly walls, mentally decorating a thousand times over, hooray we are nearly there!

Have you been doing any decorating this year?

New Painting Series–Vintage Kitchen

saltandpepperseriesphoto

‘Salt & Pepper’

4 x 4” acrylics on chunky wood canvas

£40.00

I am so excited, you may have already heard on Facebook? I’ve been playing around with a new series of paintings, the first of which I showed a sneak peek on Friday of these cute little Salt & Pepper pots.

My friend Sherry loves to collect Pyrex and I love it too, only I haven’t had much luck finding any round here at the Thrift shops, hopefully one day I’ll find some. The beautiful colours and prints on the Pyrex inspired me to create ‘Salt & Pepper’, which I enjoyed painting so much it’s inspired a whole series of paintings on the vintage kitchen theme!

I’m really looking forward to painting more Pyrex, old fashioned kitchen items and of course baking! I love baking and will share with you some of my favourite recipes and pics of yummy things I’ve made.

You can find all my original paintings and prints available to buy at my website: www.thevintageartist.com/galleryindex.htm or purchase directly here directly through Pay Pal:

Blossom Kisses Re-visited

blossomkissessmall

Remember this painting I did last year? {original is sold}

It was inspired by this beautiful tree I had seen whilst walking Ellie near the park. It was so full of pink blossom it looked amazing. I forgot to take a photo of it at the time but the other day I saw it again in full bloom and just had to take a pic to show you. It’s fun to see where inspiration comes from, so I thought you’d enjoy this.

blossomtree

The tree is huge!! I’ve never seen so many blossoms on one tree. I hope ours gets like this some day. We only planted it last year so this years show was pretty poor. Hoping for a better one next year.

‘Blossom kisses’ is available in the shop as a print.

Exhibition Excitement

homeinthecountryblog

Well the last week since being back from France has been crazy busy with preparations for two exhibitions I’m in locally.

The first is going on all through this week at St Mary’s Church, Hadleigh. It ends on my birthday Saturday 1st May. ;) (It’s a big birthday this year)

The above painting is a peek at what I’ve got entered, this is ‘Home in the Country’ on deep edge canvas, plenty of texture on this one.

sweetheartsblog

Not the best pic of this one, it’s called ‘Sweet Hearts’ and it’s 20 x 20” deep edge canvas, another textured painting with lot’s of cute thrown in.

I’ve got one other large painting and five prints too so watch this space for more info on those, including news about when I will be releasing prints in my Etsy store.

The second exhibition starts this weekend and is a holiday weekend one at St Augustine’s Church, Ipswich. I have six paintings entered for that so it’s all very exciting around here :D

Hope your week is off to a good start and if not, here’s some love and (((((((((((hugs)))))))))))) to cheer you up…
